Im every day using Ubuntu 20.04 on RPI4 4gb.
Use rpi-clone sdb

  1. first time on usb stick
    boot dont work (5 hours work)
  2. on usb stick with sd card dont work

Does it work for Ubuntu users ???

rpi-clone works fine on Ubuntu 20.04. Unfortunately, Ubuntu <22.04 seems to cooperate very poorly with booting from USB on the pi. I found this out the hard way fighting it a long time on a Pi 4B 8gb. Upgrading to 22.04 fixed the problem nearly instantaneously. One still has to be very careful about the rw speed of chosen media, and be careful about good pi uas support (the pi is very persnickety about what chipsets it cooperates with - amedia good, jmicron bad) in any usb-to-sata bridges used.
